On Nov. 18, 2025, the Port Lavaca Chamber of Commerce hosted the 58th Chamber Awards Banquet where they named Formosa Plastics Corporation, Texas Industry of the Year! The award recognized the significant role the company plays as a major employer and economic driver in Calhoun County. Approximately, 1,000 employees live in Calhoun County and receive more than $150 million annually in salaries and benefits from Formosa, which supports families and livelihoods across the region. The company contributes about $24 million each year in property taxes, helping fund essential public services and infrastructure that benefit the entire community.
